HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (PRWEB) JANUARY 25, 2018

The United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) announces their new partnership with World-Class Athlete and 2018 Olympian, Ms. Alex Rigsby. Alex proudly joins Team UBCF as UBCF’s Brand Ambassador. Alex is spreading the powerful, hockey-related message, “SHUTOUT Breast Cancer” in UBCF’s most recent print Public Service Announcement (PSA) public awareness campaign. The “SHUTOUT Breast Cancer” print PSA will be in the Official 2018 NHL All-Star Game Souvenir Program. The NHL All-Star Game weekend kicks off this Friday, January 26th, hosted by the NHL Tampa Bay Lightning with the NHL All-Star Game taking place this Sunday, January 28th at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida. UBCF is enhancing the visibility of the print PSA public awareness campaign with the upcoming 2018 USA TODAY Winter Olympics XXIII Special Edition publication that will commemorate and feature the 2018 PyongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea February 9th through 25th.

Alex’s hockey career spans her entire life starting with a decision at childhood to have her dream come true- to play Professional Hockey. Alex had an intense collegiate hockey career playing for the Badgers at the University of Wisconsin, class of 2014, where she was named an All-American. In the 2016 World Games, Alex shutout the opposing Canadian team resulting in the US National Women’s Hockey Team taking home the Gold and now she’s set her sights on the 2018 Olympics.

Alex’s tenacity and commitment has seen her through great adversity including two major hip surgeries, which would end most careers. In 2012, Alex was directly affected by Breast Cancer when her mom, Nancy Rigsby, was diagnosed. Less than a year later Alex had another set-back when she learned she was cut from the 2014 Winter Olympic team. Instead of accepting defeat, Alex used these challenges as transformational fuel to propel herself to the next level – the 2018 Winter Olympics. It is for these reasons and more that UBCF has partnered with Alex Rigsby to SHUTOUT Breast Cancer. As anyone who has been touched by cancer knows, tenacity and persistence are key to overcoming this deadly disease.

Alex provided a heart-felt statement for UBCF’s print PSA campaign, “As a world-class athlete and Olympian, I’ve dedicated my life to hockey. My biggest influence and inspiration is my Mom, Nancy. My Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2012 and I’m happy to say that today, she is a Survivor! Join me and the United Breast Cancer Foundation – Together we can SHUTOUT Breast Cancer!”

Beth Reichart, UBCF‘s Director of Operations shared, “UBCF is truly thrilled to have Alex Rigsby join Team UBCF – she brings great energy and enthusiasm to our cause! Alex and her mom Nancy are great inspirations to us all. We look forward to further developing our partnership with Alex far into the future. Together we truly can SHUTOUT Breast Cancer!”

UBCF wishes Alex Rigsby and the entire USA Women’s Hockey Team all the best in South Korea – bring home the gold!
