Fiona & Sana

Hey everyone! My name is Fiona and my partner, Sana and I have decided to partner with UBCF! Breast cancer is quite the taboo topic in specific cultures and we would love to help women out as they may not experience support from their inner circle. We would be more than pleased to see our contributions making a difference to our communities and help out our fellow loved ones in need. As we both come from ethnicities that share a muslim background, we understand that some women face injustice in healthcare, especially for reproductive and breast health as it is deemed taboo due to the patriarchal culture/mentality. Giving back to the people is a prime component in our beliefs and we hope to educate and improve the lives of others through our efforts. Our goal is to raise awareness of this issue that is occurring and we hope that we can make a difference, even if it is a small one. A little bit about us: Sana and I are both premedical students at Fordham University studying psychology. Sana's family members are Pakistani immigrants from CT with other members of the family located in Lahore and Karachi. Fiona's family members are Albanian immigrants who escaped the civil war in the 90's for better healthcare for her terminally ill members. They have been members of the NY community for over 20 years now. fun fact about us: Sana's fun fact is that she can play cricket! ( she's great at it too) Fiona's fun fact is that she can speak four languages! We first called our organization Mammary Muslims as we thought it would be a cute name LOL
